On Tuesday February 23, 2016, the Coronado Varsity boys basketball team played for the Bi-District title against El Paso El Dorado In Pecos. The Mustangs went into playoffs in 2nd place in District 2-6A at the end of the regular season.
“We worked hard all season and that showed through the games we played,” senior starting forward Zach Stepp said.  “We have goals and we are going to work harder and come together to accomplish these goals.”
The Mustangs have worked hard all season in preseason practice and district play. The Mustangs finished 6-2 in district play.
“So far we’ve had a good season and have been working hard, but we don’t plan on stopping now,” junior guard Blake Tuazon said. “We want to continue working hard as we make our run in the playoffs.”
On Tuesday, the Mustangs took a long 3 hour drive to Pecos, Texas to meet El Paso El Dorado for their match.


“It was so nerve racking for us,” junior point guard Jarrett Culver said. “Everything that day was different, but when the whistle blew all the nerves went away and we had to play.  It was a great experience and we hope to get many more.”
The game started at 6 pm in Pecos. The Mustangs showed up ready to play, evident at the half as the Mustangs were up 45 to 25. The Mustangs won the title of the Bi-District Champions with a score of 78-52
“Winning on Tuesday felt good for me and for many of us on the team, it was our very first time winning a gold ball so it felt great.” Tuazon said.

Their next game is Friday February 26, 2016 in Big Springs, Texas at 7pm for the Area Title. The team left today at 3:15 to a sendoff pep rally.
